Marvin Hawkins

William Marvin Hawkins, 84, of Prosperity, widower of Peggy Bouknight Hawkins, died Friday, October 1, 2021, at his residence.

Born on October 17, 1936, in Prosperity, to the late William Leslie and Mary Long Hawkins. He operated Marvin Hawkins Building Contractors for many years. He was a member of Mt. Pilgrim Lutheran Church where he served numerous times on the church council. Mr. Hawkins loved Lake Murray a place where he enjoyed fishing. He also enjoyed hunting and gardening.

He is survived by a son, Marvi Dean (Andy S.) Hawkins of Prosperity; daughters, Trudy H. (Ned) Brewer and Wanda H. (Edwin) Havird both of Prosperity; a sister, Brenda (Robert) Wicker of Little Mountain; seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Mr. Hawkins was predeceased by a sister, Betty Eargle and a brother, Jimmy Hawkins.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, October 4, 2021, at Mt. Pilgrim Lutheran Church by the Rev. Bobby Morris. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorials may be made to Mt. Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 2336 Mt. Pilgrim Church Road, Prosperity, SC 29127.

Active pallbearers will be his grandsons and grandsons-in-law.
