Marvin "Red" Morris

Marvin “Red” Elliott Morris, 80, of Prosperity, died Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Laurens County Hospital.

Born on June 27, 1932, in Prosperity, he was a son of the late Herman and Hester Lee Hendrix Morris. He was a Navy veteran, a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church and enjoyed playing music with his many friends.

Mr. Morris is survived by his brother, Steve A. (Liz) Morris of Prosperity; nephews, Anthony (Missy) Dennis and Terry (Kathy) Morris; a great-nephew, Michael Allen Morris and a brother-in-law, Milton Dennis. He was predeceased by sisters, Annette Morris and Diane Dennis.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church by the Rev. Jason Schafer. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family is at the home of Anthony and Missy Dennis, 5995 SC Highway 391, Prosperity and will receive friends following the service at the church. Memorials may be made to his funeral expenses at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home, 1724 Main Street, Newberry, SC 29108.

Active pallbearers will be Michael Morris, Tim Nichols, Wayne Nichols, Terry Morris, Benji Morris and Kendall Morris.

Honorary pallbearers will be Milton Dennis, Lawrence Lever, Alan Bickley, James Derrick, Lloyd Brigman, Larry Morris, Wayne Golden and Bill Clamp.
