Mary Ann Lynch

Mary Ann Phillips Smith Lynch, 89, of Newberry, formerly of La Grange, Ga, died Wednesday, September 26, 2013, at her residence.

Born on April 26, 1924, in Bethel, DE, she was a daughter of the late William Harrison and Blanche Allen Phillips. She was a graduate of Mary Washington College of Nursing and was a retired registered nurse having worked at Warm Springs Foundation and La Grange Hospital She was a member of Aveleigh Fellowship of Presbyterians where she was a member of Circle 1.

Mrs. Lynch is survived by sons, David Harrison Smith of Asheville, NC and Allen Burton (Gina) Smith of Newberry; grandchildren, Astrid, Michael, Jason, John, Graham, Jessica, Elizabeth, Matthew and Caroline; three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by husbands, Martin Sterling Smith, Sr. and Harrison R. Lynch, a son, Martin, Sterling Smith, Jr., a daughter, Cynthia Smith Nail; a grandson, David Smith, Jr. and a sister, Emogene Phillips Ellis.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, September 28, 2013, at Aveleigh Fellowship of Presbyterians by the Rev. Dr. Mitch VanMetre. Memorials may be made to Aveleigh Fellowship of Presbyterians, 1211 Calhoun Street, Newberry, SC 29108.
