Mary Boozer

Mary Ada Derrick Boozer, 91, of Prosperity, widow of O.H. “Dick” Boozer, died Monday, February 2, 2015, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Born on October 31, 1923, in Chapin, she was a daughter of the late George Arthur and Cedecia Annie Mae Wessinger Derrick. She was retired from American Fiber & Finishing. Mrs. Boozer was a member of Bethel Baptist Church where she was a member of the Young at Heart Sunday School and the WMU. She was a member of the Friendly Road Runners of Newberry.

She is survived by daughters, Shirley Boozer (Richard) Fontaine of Springfield, VA and Janice Boozer (Tommy) Meeks of Newberry; a sister, Mabel Derrick Miller of West Columbia; sisters-in-law, Linda Lake (Ronnie) Griffith of Greenwood, Ruth Derrick of Newberry and Barbara Boozer of Sylvania, GA; grandchildren, Julie (Bob) Reikowski, Shelley M. (Eric) Willingham of Prosperity and Stephanie M. (Bobby) Hamby of Abbeville and ten great-granchildren. She was predeceased by brothers Homer Derrick, Furman Derrick, and Noah Derrick, and a sister, Adelaide Shealy.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, February 5, 2015, at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Scott Kierstead and Rev. Bill Ebener. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:30 – 8:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.
