Mary Darby

Mary Lee Hutto Darby, 82, passed away Saturday, February 17, at her home in Roswell, GA.

Mrs. Darby was born May 23, 1935 in Newberry, SC to Clarence Claude Hutto and Sarah Hipp Hutto.

Mrs. Darby was an accomplished singer having performed at the Newberry Opera House and served as a choir member as a congregant throughout her life. As a member of Mt. Bethel UMC, she enjoyed serving on the Membership Attendance committee. She supported the east Marietta community as a manager of Cobb County polls and as a Red Cross volunteer.   When she was away from home, she most cherished her time with her family as a part-time resident at Pawleys Island, SC.

She was predeceased by husband of 56 years, Louis Gourdin Darby, and is survived by her children: Louis and Barbara Darby, Jr.; Robert and Julie Darby Chattin; David and Mary Darby; Luke and Lee Darby Bryant; Dan and Kay Darby; 17 grandchildren: Laura, Karen, Matthew and Michael Darby; Sarah, Brian, Tyler and Joie Chattin; Jaimie, Shannon and Alex Darby; Darby, Katianne and Daniel Bryant; Kacie, Bess and Sam Darby; and 9 great-grandchildren, Sophie and Emily O'Toole; Nolan and Trenton Schlitt; Evelyn and Andrew Chattin; Jayla Garrett; and Lucie and Holden Swain.

Graveside services will be held at Rosemont Cemetery in Newberry, SC on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church.
