Mary Hendrix Longshore, 78, of Newberry, widow of Irby Lee Longshore Jr., departed from earth and entered the Lord's Kingdom on Monday, February 6, 2017 at Palmetto Health Heart Hospital.

Born in Newberry County on March 11, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Fredrick and Jessie Mae Derrick Hendrix. She retired from Purcell's after 44 years of dedicated service and was a member of Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church. Mary Longshore's smile was contagious to everyone around her along with her concern for everyone else made her the unique person she was to her family and friends.

She is survived by a daughter, Terri Longshore of Newberry; a son, Alan Longshore (Lori) of Prosperity; a sister, Dollie Creekmore of Newberry; a brother, Henry Boyd Hendrix of Newberry; a sister-in-law, Linda Hendrix; three grandchildren, Blake, Carlee, and Elijah; Mrs. Mary had many loving nieces and nephews including one very loving niece, Carla Creekmore, who named a star after Aunt Mary. She was predeceased by her brother, W.P. Hendrix.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 PM Thursday, February 9, 2017 at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Jimmy Counts. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. The family is at her residence and will receive friends Wednesday from 5:00 until 6:30PM at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church, 1105 First Street, Newberry SC 29108.

Active Pall bearers will be Blake Longshore, Elijah Longshore, Chad Hendrix, Justin Suber, Jacob Epting, Brian Hendrix, Grant Hendrix, and Zac Ray.

Honorary pall bearers will be former and current employees of Purcell's.
