Mary Lou Griffin

Mary Lou Wicker Griffin, 80, of Newberry, widow of William Dudley Griffin, died Sunday, May 22, 2011, at Richland Heart Hospital.

Born on December 24, 1930, in Pomaria, she was a daughter of the late Daniel Colie and Mattie Mae Crumpton Wicker. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Bobby Long of Newberry; a grandson and his wife, Daniel and Jessie Long of Newberry; granddaughter and her husband, Kristina and Bennie Ouzts of Prosperity; great grandchildren who loved their Maw Maw dearly, Daniel Long II and Marley Long; brother, J.P. Wicker of Newberry and a host of nieces and nephews that loved her dearly. Mrs. Griffin was predeceased by her sisters, Sara Lathrop, Louise Searight and Ollie Bowers and brothers, Walter Eugene Wicker, Aaron Wicker and Buddy Wicker.

Funeral services will be conducted at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pomaria, SC, on Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at 3:00 p.m. by Rev. Brent Nichols. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. The family will be at her residence, 1931 Smith Road, and will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church Building Fund, 2496 Highway 773, Pomaria, SC 29126.
