Mary Nelle Lester

Mary Nelle Chapman Lester, 93, of Newberry, died Wednesday, January 12, 2011, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Born on May 20, 1917, in Newberry County, she was a daughter of the late Luther Edgar and Lena Mary Kunkle Chapman. Mrs. Lester was a member of Colony Lutheran Church where she was a member of WELCA.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, James C. Lester; a daughter, Mary Claudette Lester of Newberry; a sister, Bernice Shealy of Newberry; grandchildren, David Kingsmore, Pam Fisher and Tina Frick and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a grandson, Rex Kingsmore and seven brothers and five sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 15, 2011, at Colony Lutheran Church by the Rev. Jerry Trantham and Rev. Floyd Sides. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
