Mary Ruth “Tennessee” Boozer, 88, of Prosperity, died Monday, May 16, 2011, at J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home.
Born on May 31, 1922, in Boiling Springs, NC, she was a daughter of the late William Charles and Beulah Cornelia Davis Miller. Mrs. Boozer was retired from Greenwood Mills, Joanna Plant and the Newberry County Council on Aging. She was a member of Clinton Church of God.
She is survived by daughters, Linda M. Dees of Newberry and Judy (Tommy) Padgett of Clinton; a sister, Avalee Hawkins of Newberry; a daughter-in-law, Melanie Shepard of Prosperity; a special friend, C.T. Merchant of Newberry; eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Mrs. Boozer was predeceased by three husbands, Junior Ben Mathis, David B. Franklin and Milton Boozer, a son, J.D. “Frog” Mathis, a brother, Allen Miller and a sister, Ruby Beck.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Ronnie Grant and Rev. Dan Gardner. Burial will follow in West End Cemetery. The family is at 704 Morris Road, Prosperity and they will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
