Mary S. Lewis

Mary Street Lewis, 84, of Newberry, widow of William F. “Bill” Lewis, died Tuesday, August 12, 2014, at J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home.

Born on August 29, 1929, in Clemson, she was a daughter of the late James Fred Street, Sr. and Geneva Benson Street. She was retired form Monsanto and was a member of Glenn Street Baptist Church where she participated in the WMU and Sunday School.

She is survived by a son, David Lewis; sisters, Marta Hamm, Freddie (W.H.) Mills and Nancy Griffith; a brother, James Fred Street, Jr. of Graniteville; grandsons, Heath Lewis and Brent Lewis; great-grandchildren, Lillian Lewis and Cooper Lewis. Mrs. Lewis was predeceased by a son, James Stanley “Bootsie” Lewis and a sister, Gloria Allred.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, August 15, 2014, at Glenn Street Baptist Church by the Rev. Michael Whitesides. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Glenn Street Baptist Church, 300 Glenn Street, Newberry, SC 29108.
