Mary Waldrop

Mary Jean Adams Waldrop, 95, of Newberry, widow of Ralph D. Waldrop, died Thursday, June 18, 2020 at her residence.

Born on September 6, 1924 in Saluda, she was a daughter of the late Claude and Vara Padgett Adams. Mrs. Waldrop was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she was in the Wesley Sunday School Class. She was an avid sports fan and  loved the Clemson Tigers. She loved cooking  meals and spending time with her family.

She is survived by sons, Bill (Diane) Waldrop and Jim (Dixie) Waldrop both of Newberry; six grandchildren, Susan (Robbie) Dowd, Jeannie Waldrop, Billy (Sabrina) Waldrop, Lou Ann (Scott) Wery, Ralph (Nina) Waldrop, and Bryan (Crystal) Waldrop; twelve great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter; and her special caregiver, Karen DeWalt. She was predeceased by a sister, Claudia Foti and a brother, Billy Adams.

A private graveside service will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Charles Wilbanks and Rev. Ken Carter. Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 1167 Trinity Church Road, Newberry, SC 29108.

Even though due to COVID-19 the service will be private the family wanted to recognize the Wesley Sunday School Class as honorary pallbearers.
