Mattie Kneece

Mattie Leona Kunkle Kneece, 99, of Newberry, widow of Clarence Kneece, died Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at J. F. Hawkins Nursing Home.

Born on October 5, 1912, in Saluda, she was a daughter of the late James Willie and Ida George Kunkle. Mrs. Kneece was a homemaker and a member of Colony Lutheran Church where she was an honorary life member of WELCA.

Mrs. Kneece is survived by sons, William Preston (Elizabeth) Kunkle, James C. Kneece, Jerry R. (Janice) Kneece and Robert Wayne (Eve) Kneece all of Newberry; twelve grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Mrs. Kneece was predeceased by six brothers and sisters, a daughter-in-law, a granddaughter and a great-granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 30, 2011, at Colony Lutheran Church by the Rev. Jerry Trantham. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour before the service in the church fellowship hall. Memorials may be made to Colony Lutheran Church, 48 Colony Church Road, Newberry, SC 29108.

Pallbearers will be Jason Kneece, Josh Kneece, Kris Kneece, Kyle Kneece, Robert Kneece, Wade Kneece, Billy Kunkle and Kevin Kunkle.
