Mattie Stroud Kyzer, 92, of Newberry, died Friday, February 28, 2014, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
Born on September 28, 1921, in Conestee, SC, she was a daughter of the late James Ruben and Margie Griffin Williamson. She was retired from Greenwood Mills – Joanna Plant and was a member of Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Kyzer is survived by her husband, Ezell J. Kyzer; sons, Oliver Kent (Mary) Stroud of Kinards, Ronnie E. (Gwen) Kyzer of Newberry; daughters, Amelia (Leonard) Finley of Laurens and Deborah K. (Charles) Hall of Newberry; nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and five great-greatgrandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, Grey Jackson Stroud, a daughter, Melinda Hendrix and five brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, March 2, 2014, at Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. James Counts and Rev. Brian Preston. Burial will follow in Pinelawn Memory Gardens in Clinton. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church, 1105 First Street, Newberry, SC 29108.
Active pallbearers will be Mike Stroud, Sam Hendrix, Chuck Hall, Kirk Dotson, Hayden Dotson and Mickey Stroud.
