McCallum Samuel Senn of Newberry, South Carolina passed away and entered into the arms of Jesus on February 21, 2024.
McCallum was born on May 22, 2000, to Foster and Sharon Senn. McCallum graduated from Newberry Academy in 2018, where he was a talented student and athlete. He then went on to study accounting at Clemson University, graduating in 2022, and furthered his education by earning his Master of Professional Accountancy from Clemson in 2023. After graduating, he began his job as a professional accountant in Greenville, SC.
McCallum loved to run and was an accomplished runner throughout his life. In his senior year of high school, he won the SCISA state championship in cross country in the fall and won the state championship in the 3200-meter race in the spring in the SCISA state track meet. His passion for running began at an early age when he started running for the Irmo-Chapin Storm Track Club, which he loved. He was also proud to be a part of the Newberry Academy Varsity Boys basketball team.
In his free time, McCallum enjoyed reading, watching many movies, and being outdoors. He had a talent for discovering the next big singers before anyone else had heard of them. He enjoyed playing sports and attending any kind of sporting event with friends and family. McCallum was an avid Clemson fan and enjoyed watching Premier League Soccer and the NFL. He loved to play pickleball, and he regularly played on Saturday mornings in Greenville.
During the summer, McCallum was a camp counselor at Asbury Hills, a Methodist youth camp in Cleveland, SC. He was loved by his campers and taught many children and young adults about Jesus and walking in faith. He was a lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Newberry.
McCallum was a loving son, brother, and friend. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He modeled what it means to be kind, humble, and a servant of Christ. He was a listener rather than a speaker, and he deeply cared about what you had to say. He touched many lives through his generosity, intelligence, and gentle personality.
McCallum is survived by his parents who deeply loved him, Foster and Sharon Senn, of Newberry. He is also survived by his sisters who adored him, Emily and Caroline, loving brother-in-law, Derek Sligh (Emily), and uncles, aunts, and many cousins. He was predeceased by his grandparents, George and Connie Senn, of Newberry, and Haskell Samuel Stamps, Nancy Stamps, and Geraldine Stamps, all of Anderson, SC.
A receiving of friends will be held on Saturday, February 24, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.The family is having a private service and burial to honor McCallum and celebrate his life. Private burial will be at Trinity United Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests for memorials to be made to Asbury Hills Camp (5 Century Drive, Suite 250, Greenville, SC 29607), Clemson Wesley (PO Box 1703, Clemson, SC 29633 or clemsonwesley.org/give), and the Newberry Academy Booster Club (2055 Smith Rd, Newberry, SC 29108).
