Melvin Lee Sutton

Melvin Lee Sutton, age 71, of Whitmire, died Monday, September 1, 2014 at his residence.

He was born October 11, 1942 in Lee County Virginia and was the son of the late Rev. Grant and Eva Morrison Sutton. He was retired from Torrington in Clinton, SC. He enjoyed antique cars and was never more happier than when with family. He will forever be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.

Surviving are his son, Chris Sutton of Whitmire; sister, Dorothy Connor of Newberry; brother, Paul Sutton of Newberry; sister-in-law, Patricia Sutton of Whitmire; granddaughters, Karleigh and Krislyn Sutton of Virginia; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by sisters, Meda Bouknight, Opal Jennings, Edith Ruff, Billie Gribble, and brothers Alva Sutton and Willie Ray Sutton.

Funeral services will be held at Friendship Baptist Church on Wednesday September 3, 2014 at 5:00 pm. Visitation will be held an hour before the service and burial will follow in the Whitmire Cemetery. The family is at the residence of his sister Dorothy Connor.

Active pallbearers are nephews, Jeff Sutton, Joe Busbin, Johnny Sutton, Rocky Sutton, AG Caudill and lifelong friend Joe Walker.
