Metts Schumpert

Metts Schumpert, 62, of Newberry, died Sunday, June 14, 2020 at his residence.

Born on July 18, 1957 in Newberry, he was the son of the late Ralph M. and Patricia Metts Schumpert. He was a member of Bachman Chapel Lutheran Church. Mr. Schumpert was a mechanic for 40 plus years. His last two employers were Blanchard Caterpillar of Simpsonville and Eagle Construction Company of Newberry. He was called “Professor” at work because of his knowledge of Caterpillar equipment. Metts played hard and worked even harder.

He is survived by a son, Jason Schumpert and his fiancée, Angela Belk of Irmo; his granddaughter, Abbie Schumpert, whoheld a very special place in his heart. He is also survived by Beth Brummet, mother of Jason; a sister, Harriet (Kenneth) Waits of Newberry and a number of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by an infant sister, Connie Elizabeth Schumpert.

A Celebration of Life graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, June 27, 2020 at Bachman Chapel Lutheran Church by the Rev. Floyd Sides. Those attending are encouraged to dress casually adhere to the COVID-19 guidelines.
