Mildred Vanderford

Mildred Hentz Vanderford, 97, of Newberry, widow of William T. Vanderford, died Wednesday, September 14, 2011, at White Oak Manor.

Born on April 20, 1914, in Newberry County, she was a daughter of the late William Shirey and Lillie Cromer Hentz. She was a member of Lebanon United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Vanderford is survived by a daughter, Lillian (Rion) Price and a son, Donald Vanderford both of Newberry; a daughter-in-law, Nancy S. Vanderford of Ridgeville, SC; grandchildren, Doug (Laura) Vanderford of Montclair, NJ, Rion C. Price, Jr. of Smyrna, GA, Tommy (Amanda) Price of Newberry and Amy Price of Summerville, SC; great-grandchildren, Kyleigh and Ryan Vanderford and Devin and Josie Price; a sister, Evelyn H. Smith of Summerville, SC and a special friend, Claudia. She was predeceased by a son, Billy I. Vanderford, four brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, September 16, 2011, at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Fred Buchanan and Rev. Mantle Nance. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery. The family is at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rion Price, 945 Cline Street, Newberry and will receive friends Thursday from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Lebanon United Methodist Church, 1401 Milligan Street, Newberry, SC 29108.
