Milton Freddie “Milt” Boland, 94, Pomaria, died Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home. Mr. Boland was born on June 29, 1916, and spent his life living in the Central Community of eastern Newberry County between Pomaria and Little Mountain.

He was a son of the late Cephas Freddie and Lillie Agnes Chapman Boland. He was a life long member of Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church. Spending his life as a farmer, Mr. Boland loves the land and growing things on it. He was a Mason, served many years on The Newberry Electric Cooperative Board and spent much time on various agriculture related assignments.

Surviving are sons, Alfred Boland and his wife, Myra of Greer and Gene Boland and his wife, Barbara of Prosperity; sisters, Louise Mattison of Ware Shoals and Inez Hasty of Charlotte; 6 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and 6 step-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Mary Carolyn Shealy Boland, sons, Donald Boland and Larry Boland, and brothers, W.P. Boland, W.L. Boland and J.C. Boland.

The family expresses its appreciation for the loving attention paid by all caregivers during Mr. Boland’s extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, January 7, 2011, at Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church by the Reverend John Stoudemayer. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends after the service. Memorials may be made to Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church, 816 Mt. Tabor Church Road, Little Mountain, 29075

Active pallbearers will be Jimmie Boland, Charles Frick, Sr., Edwin Dowd, Tim Huffstetler, Wesley Boland, and Joel Harmon.
