Miriam Fulmer Hawkins, 86, of Prosperity, widow of James Clyde Hawkins, died Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at the Saluda Nursing Center.
Born on October 28, 1932 in Prosperity, she was the daughter of the late Herbert Samuel Fulmer, Sr. and Grace Shealy Fulmer. Mrs. Hawkins worked for many years at Old School Manufacturing and with American Greetings. She was a life-long member of Macedonia Lutheran Church where she was very active in the Adult Sunday School Class, the Senior Choir, the Fellowship Circle, the Goldies, the Lakeshore Linedancers and the Macedonia Quilters.
She is survived by her children, Edith Hawkins, Gail (Joel) Black and Patrick (Melanie) Hawkins; grandchildren, Joshua (Shannon) Black, Lauren Black and fiance, Steven Venegas, Claire Hawkins and Ben Hawkins; great-grandchildren, Ana Black and Tyra Black; brothers, Robert (Helen) Fulmer and Monroe (Juanita) Fulmer; sisters-in-law, Judy (Joe) Kesler and Linda Pitts. Mrs. Hawkins was predeceased by a daughter, Pamela Susan Hawkins and a brother, Herbert Samuel Fulmer, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Macedonia Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Macedonia Church Choir Robe Fund, 49 Macedonia Church Road, Prosperity, SC 29127.
Active pallbearers will be Jason Fulmer, Grady Fulmer, Charles Fulmer, Ernie Fulmer, Billy Pitts, Paul Shealy, Billy Caldwell and Russell Pitts.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Macedonia Goldies.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of the Saluda Nursing Center units A & B as well as Dr. William Sawyer for their loving care to Miriam.
