Ernest Mitchel Perdue, 62, of North Augusta, SC died Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at his residence.
Born on November 12, 1946 in Newberry, he was the son of Nina Adams Perdue and the late William Mitchel Perdue, Jr. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War having served in the 9 th Infantry during the TET Offensive. Mr. Perdue was a member of the S.C. National Guard for thirteen years and was a former purchasing agent for several lumber companies. He was a member of University Lutheran Church of Clemson, SC, MRFA and the Vietnam Veterans of America. He was an avid Clemson fan and enjoyed tailgating with his family and friends.
Surviving in addition to his mother of Newberry is his wife, Debra Bowers Perdue; daughters, Crystal (Jason) Cheek of Richmond Hill, GA and Lauren Perdue of Greenville, SC; sisters, Evelyn (Herman) McQuage of Columbia, SC and Nancy (Tim) Owen of Newberry, SC; grandchildren, Kodi and Madison Cheek and his loving nieces and their families

Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, September 17, 2009 at the Bayonet Chapel at Fort Jackson in Columbia. All that attend will need to report to gate 4 and have a picture ID to be able to enter Fort Jackson.
