Morris L. Jones

Morris L. Jones, 90, of Newberry, widower Jane Cannon Jones, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Born on July 4, 1934, in Newberry, he was a son of the late Walter David and Beulah Shealy Jones. He was a US Air Force veteran. Mr. Jones was a member of Summer Memorial Lutheran Church and had retired from ISE America. He enjoyed working in his vegetable garden and fishing with his friend Fred Pugh.

Mr. Jones is survived by sons, Ricky (Dana) Jones of Newberry and Ronnie (Darrah) Jones of Prosperity; brothers, Randal (Joyce) Jones of Leesville and Hugh (Kay) Jones of Little Mountain; grandchildren, Emily Layton (Matthew), Kaitlyn Jones (Caden Smith) and Seth Chick (Sarah Simmons).

He was predeceased by brothers, James Jones, Gordon Jones, Mac Jones and Don Jones and a sister-in-law, Dorothy B. Jones.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Summer Memorial Lutheran Church by the Rev. Rebecca Wicker and Rev. Bobby Morris. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 12:30 – 1:30 pm.

Memorials may be made to Summer Memorial Lutheran Church, 1609 Milligan Street, Newberry, SC 29108.

Active pallbearers will be Jimmie Richter, John Swieringa, Jason Jones, Steve Jones, Melvin Metts and Jay Salter.
