Myrtie Boland Wessinger, 86, of Prosperity, widow of Tommy Joe Wessinger, died Saturday, July 22, 2023 at her home.
Born on March 18, 1937, in Lexington County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Leon C. and Eva Shealy Boland.
Myrtie was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She later chose cosmetology as her profession where she was the owner operator of the Little Mountain Beauty Shop for over 25 years. After retiring from her own shop she chose to work at the Lowman Home in White Rock and Jessie Frank Hawkins in Newberry which were Nursing Centers as their cosmetologist. She always had a passion for making people feel good about themselves. She was currently a member of Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church where she participated in the ladies missionary group. Myrtie's favorite past times included golfing at Mid Carolina Country Club where she was one of the few charter members from 1968. Her latest past time was playing cards with her “ladies” on Wednesday's.
She is survived by her son, Danny Wessinger of Prosperity; daughter, Cheryl Cregger and her husband, Mike of Pomaria; grandson, Max Cregger and his wife, Julia of Prosperity; granddaughter, Cally Cregger of Rock Hill; three step-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren; sisters, Edna Riley, Rae Daniels, Bonnie Bickley and Barbara Dickens and many nieces and nephews.
Private graveside services for immediate family will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery by the Rev. Ritch Johnston.
Memorials may be made to the Little Mountain Rescue Squad, PO Box 8, Little Mountain, SC 29075, the Rev. J.S. Wessinger Scholarship Fund at the Lutheran Seminary, 4201 N. Main Street, Columbia, SC 29203 or to the charity of one's choice.
