Myrtle Martin

Myrtle Boozer Martin, 90, of Newberry, widow of John W. Martin, died Sunday, April 6, 2014, at White Oak Manor.

Born on January 29, 1924, in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late Gaston F. and Sallie Davenport Boozer. She was a graduate of Newberry College and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she was a member of Circle #1.

Mrs. Martin is survived by a son, Sammy (Nell) Martin of Newberry; a daughter, Rachel (Obie) Smith of Edgefield; grandchildren, Sherry Williams, Carol Lucas, John F. Martin, Chris Smith and Mary Graham; six great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Thomas Martin, a sister, Katherine Floyd and brothers, David Boozer and Strong Broozer.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at Trinity United Methodist Church by the Rev. Hugh Bickley. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 1167 Trinity Church Road, Newberry, SC 29108 or the charity of one's choice.

Active pallbearers will be John Martin, Chris Smith, Jared Graham, Gaston Floyd, Bobby Pollard and Charlie Rogers.
