Nancy Coats

Mary Nancy Coats, 72, of Newberry, died Thursday, March 13, 2014, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Born on July 28, 1941, in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late Thomas E. and Mary Outz Chappell. She was retired from Kayser-Roth Corporation and was presently working for Wal-Mart in the Lawn and Garden Department. She was a member of Mayer Memorial Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her husband, Robert “Spott” Coats; a daughter, Karen (Jerry) Kinard of Newberry; a son, Bobby (Angela) Coats of Newberry; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will held at 3:00 pm Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Mayer Memorial Lutheran Church by the Rev. Dr. Mary Havens and Vicar Josh Morgan. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 – 7:30 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Mayer Memorial Lutheran Church General Fund, 1307 Drayton Street, Newberry, SC 29108 or to the Newberry Hospital Volunteers, 2669 Kinard Street, Newberry, SC 29108.

Active pallbearers will be Jimmy Bickley, Jimmie Harmon, Keith Kinard, William Kinard, Melvin Price, Clarence Shealy and Arnold Hiller.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Mark Davis, Dr. Alan Paysinger, Dr. Thomas Bradberry, Dr. Steven Madden, Dr. Mark Ezekiel, Terry Woodward and employees of the Newberry Wal-Mart Lawn and Garden.
