Nancy Faye Griffith

Nancy Faye Street Griffith of Newberry went home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday, March 20, 2022 at the age of 77.

She was born in Newberry County to the late James Fred Street, Sr. and Geneva Benson Street on June 27, 1944. Their sixth child and fifth daughter. Nancy was married to the late Ralph D “Shorty” Griffith for 25 years until the time of his death.  She was a homemaker and devoted mother and grandmother and great-grandmother. She made sure her children grew up in church providing them with a firm foundation.  She spent many years in the pageantry world with her daughter but equally enjoyed sitting on a dock on the lake cane pole fishing and drinking diet cokes.  Nancy worked several years with SC Department of Disabilities and Special Needs Board until her health declined.  She was a long-time member of Glenn Street Baptist Church. 

She is survived by her beloved children: three sons; Mark Griffith (Debra), Michael Griffith, Todd Griffith (Kim) and one daughter, Christia “Cricket” Franklin (Don); a sister, Freddie Mills (W.H); 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased in addition to her her spouse by her sisters; Mary Lewis, Martha Hamm, Gloria Allred and brother, Fred Street.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Thursday, March 24, 2022, at Glenn Street Baptist Church by the Rev. Camden Bagwell. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday at the church from 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm. Memorials may be made to Glenn Street Baptist Church, 300 Glenn Street, Newberry, SC 29108.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the nurses and staff of MSA Hospice and to Tracy Griffith and Debra Griffith for their loving care given to Mrs. Nancy.

Active pallbearers will be Butch Griffith, Timothy Griffith, Zachary Bailey, Gavin Franklin, Garrett Griffith and Chase Griffith.
