Nettie Cannon Frick, 103, of Little Mountain, widow of Carl Roland Frick and daughter of the late Charlie and Minnie Wessinger Cannon went home to a grand celebration on the morning of September 13, 2016.
She was born on May 9, 1913 in the Pineywoods section of Lexington County. Nettie was the sixth of nine children. She spent her time on earth working hard and loving her family well. Mrs. Frick was affectionately known as “Ma Frick” and was a lifelong member of St. Peter Lutheran Church. She led the children of the church, was a member of the choir, the Adult Sunday School Class and the Primetimers. Mrs. Frick was retired from General Electric. She also worked at F. Metts' store in Little Mountain and retired from the demanding life of a farmer's wife. Among her most recent favorite pastimes was eating at Shealy's Barbecue, picking fruit at various orchards and reading the Bible.
Mrs. Frick is survived by daughters, Retha F. Alewine and Nancy F. Frick (David); six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren with the ninth on the way. She was predeceased by her son, Jerry Carl Frick, Sr., her son-in-law, Frank Alewine, all of her siblings, grandchildren, Patrick Frick, Jerry Frick, Jr., Vickie Alewine and great-grandson, T. J. Shealy.
The family wishes to thank Ma Frick's wonderful caregivers, Kaye James, Beverly Lewis and Carmella White and the Blue Ridge Hospice, and Dr. Carroll Pinner and his staff.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, September 15, 2016, at St. Peter Lutheran Church by the Rev. Brett Collins. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Memorials may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church, 900 Dreher Island Road, Chapin, SC 29036.
Active pallbearers will be Randy Cannon, Keith Frick, Mike McCartha, Melvin Cannon, Derrill Frick, Eldred Frick.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Primetimers at St. Peter Lutheran Church.
