Jesus called his daughter home, Nina Lee Timms Davenport, 69 years old, of Newberry, on Friday, November 14, 2014, at MUSC.
Born on November 29, 1944, in Greenville,SC she was a daughter of the late Weston A. and Lois Ellis Timms. She was a mother and homemaker, a member of Freedom Baptist Church and she was a Sunday School teacher.
Mrs. Davenport, along with her husband, was a founding member of Faith and Hope Ministries, a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and operated a Christian assignment shop.
She is survived by her husband of over 48 years, Marion S. Davenport; daughters, Peggy Lynn Short, Wendy (Karman) Bedenbaugh, Angela Cooper, Tina (Ken) York, Gina (Ron) Counts; a son, Kris (Erin) Davenport; sisters, Rita Davis and Bonnie Garner; a brother, James Timms; eleven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many godchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Kathryn Davenport, a sister, Betty Knight and a brother, Charles A. Timms.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, November 17, 2014, at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Eddie Bledsoe. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Ninety Six, SC. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 – 5:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers will be members of Freedom Baptist Church.
Honorary pallbearers will be Senator Jim Lander, Dr. Rajinder Parmar, Chuck Burton, George Piersol, Jerry Havird, Billy K. Gregory, Hoyt Dorn, James Hayes, and Antonio Tucker.
