Nora Sumner

Nora Kendrick Sumner, 91, of Newberry and formerly of Clintwood, VA, widow of George Sumner, died Monday, May 26, 2014, at White Oak Manor.

Born on June 23, 1922, in Pikeville, KY, she was a daughter of the late Willie and Lydia Mills Kendrick. She was a member of Freewill Baptist Church of Clintwood, VA.

Mrs. Sumner is survived by daughters, Margaret Louise Buchanan of Fredericksburg, VA and Juanita Welsh of Newberry; a brother, Doug Kendrick of Dale, TX; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Annette Mullins.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, May 30, 2014, at Clintwood-Colley Funeral Home in Clintwood, VA. Burial will follow in Phipps Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00- 8:00 pm at Clintwood-Colley Funeral Home.
