Sara Norma Ruff Richardson , 77, of Pomaria died Sunday, December 15, 2013 at her residence.
Born on March 22, 1936, in Newberry County, she was a daughter of the late David Feldon and Sara Hentz Ruff. She graduated cum laude from Newberry College and was a retired English teacher, having taught at Chapin High School for 36 years. She was a former Teacher of the Year and served as Senior Class Sponsor for a number of years. After her retirement, she was employed by Artic Chill where she worked in the Accounts Receivable Department for 7 years. She was a member of Pomaria Lutheran Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher and did secretarial work that included preparing the church bulletin for many years. She also served as a past Chairman of the Social Ministry of Pomaria Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, R. Paul Richardson; a daughter, Paula Lynn Richardson of Los Angeles, California; sisters, Mildred Wicker (James) and Jimmie Ruff both of Newberry.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Friday, December 20, 2013, at Pomaria Lutheran Church by the Rev. Doctor Derald Edwards. Burial will follow in St. Philip's Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Pomaria Lutheran Church Building fund, P.O. Box 246, Pomaria, SC 29126, St. Philip's Lutheran Church Family Life Center, 2461 St. Philips Church Road, Newberry, SC 29108, or to Newberry College, 2100 College Street, Newberry, SC 29108.
Active pall bearers will be Tarry Long, Tommy Long, Keith Wicker, Eric Long, Hunter Key, Mark Ebert, and Neil Huffstetler.
Honorary pall bearers will be the Pomaria Lutheran Church W.E.L.C.A.
