Otis Moates

Otis Thomas Moates, 77 of Newberry, died Friday, June 15, 2012 at the Hospice House of Laurens County.

Born on December 22, 1934 in Laurens County, he was a son of the late Wyatt Aiken and Addie Ludell Morgan Moates. He was a retired auto salesman and was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his loving companion of 34 years, Betty Wicker; a brother, Martin O' Dell Moates, Sr. of Newberry, good friends, Tammy and Marty Waters. He is also survived by Tony and David Moates. He was predeceased by wives, Margie Hall Moates and Annie Mae Reed Moates, a son, Anthony Wayne Moates, brothers, George, Paul, W.L. and Horace Moates, and a sister, Alverta Moates

Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 PM Monday, June 18, 2012 at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Eddie Bledsoe. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service in the chapel. Memorials may be made to Freedom Baptist Church, PO Box 1106, Newberry, SC 29108.
