Patsy Hamm

Patsy Mitchell Hamm, 82, of Prosperity, widow of Jeff A. “Bud” Hamm, Jr., died Friday, June 24, 2011, at Springfield Place.

Born on November 6, 1928, in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late Morris and Inez Lewis Mitchell. Mrs. Hamm was retired from Whitten Center and later worked for the Newberry County Council on Aging. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church where she was a member and former teacher of the Grace Sease Sunday School Class.

She is survived by a son, Jeff A. (Josie) Hamm III of Yorktown, VA; a daughter, Allyson Lea (Richard) Attaway of Newberry; grandchildren, Jessica Hamm, Jennifer Hamm, Julianne Hamm and Richard “Trey” Attaway III. Mrs. Hamm was predeceased by sisters, Elizabeth Thompson, Margaret Cousins, Nellie Hite, Dorothy Kirby, Marylee Brown and Peggy Fleming and brothers, Edward Mitchell, James Mitchell and Phillip Mitchell.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 26, 2011, at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home by the Rev. Eric Fink. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, PO Box 188, Prosperity, SC 29127 or to the Newberry Council on Aging, 1800 Hunt Street, Newberry, SC 29108
