Peggy Stribble Myers, 76, of Newberry, widow of James Earl Myers, died Sunday, June 13, 2010, at her residence.

Born on December 29, 1933, in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late James R. and Helen Bedenbaugh Stribble. Mrs. Myers was retired after 30 years from Old School Manufacturing and was also employed with Betty’s Catering. She was a member of St. Philip’s Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Fellowship Circle, Joy Fellowship, and the Adult B Sunday School Class. She was an active volunteer with the Newberry County Memorial Hospital for which she received the Lifetime Service Award for having volunteered over 4000 hours and was a former member of the Roadrunners.

Surviving is her son, David Earl (Joyce) Myers of Newberry; daughters, Kathy (Eddie) Stroud of Prosperity and Julie (Adam) Smith of Newberry; sisters, Shirley Boozer of Prosperity and Toby Bush of Newberry; grandchildren, Shannon Stroud, Keli (Ryan) Dickert, Andrea Stroud, Audie Myers, Megan Smith Livingston and Chelsea Smith; and great-grandchildren, Madisen and Emily Stroud. She was predeceased by a brother, Johnnie Stribble

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at St. Philip’s Lutheran Church by the Rev. Terry Amick. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Philip’s Lutheran Church, 2461 St. Philip’s Church Road, Newberry, SC 29108 or to the Newberry County Memorial Hospital Volunteer Organization, PO Box 497, Newberry, SC 29108.
