Peggy Ruff

Peggy Viola Turner Ruff, 74, of Newberry, wife of Mitchell Ruff, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 18, 2024 at White Oak Manor.    

She was born to the late Curtis P. and Frances Turner on October 19, 1949.  Peggy attended Newbery County schools, and was a graduate of the NHS Class of 1967.   Later on, Peggy obtained a business degree from Piedmont Technical College.  Peggy was a member of Glenn Street Baptist Church.

In 2001, Peggy retired from a career in sales at Ellett Brothers in Chapin.   Peggy retired to begin her new role as “Grandma”, one in which she loved deeply.  

In addition to spoiling grandchildren, Peggy enjoyed shopping, reading, and traveling…..some travel on the back of Mitch’s motorcycle.

In addition to her husband, Peggy is survived by son, Mike Ruff and his wife Casey and their children Brady and Brandon Ruff.   She is survived by son Curtis Ruff and his daughter Shelby Ruff.  Surviving are her three sisters, Dianne Kirkland of Woodruff, SC, Elizabeth Greene, and Debbie (Tommy) McCullough of Newberry, numerous nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Glenn Street Baptist Church by the Rev. Jeff O’Dell.  A private burial will be in Newberry Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends following the service in the Glenn Street Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.

The family would like to thank the staff of White Oak Manor and MSA Hospice for the wonderful care provided to Peggy.
