Perry Bennie Harmon, 83, of Newberry, widower of Mozelle Jones Harmon, died Monday, April 15, 2013, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
Born on April 1, 1930, in Newberry County, he was a son of the late Charlie Raymond and Carrie Parrott Harmon. He was retired from Harmon Logging and was a member of Queen's Memorial Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by daughters, Louise Lilly of Lugoff, Evelyn Rankin of Prosperity, Myrtle Silvia of Batesburg and Amanda Harmon-Springer of Duncan; sisters, Dot Lester of Prosperity and Jeanette Shirey of Newberry; brothers, Fred Harmon and Donald Harmon both of Newberry; twenty grandchildren and thirty-four great-grandchildren. Mr. Harmon was predeceased by a daughter, Reba Wilson and a brother, Terry Harmon.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm Thursday, April 18, 2013, at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. David Torrey and Rev. Daniell Cooper. Burial will follow in Queen's Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be Jonathan Blackston, Dale Harmon, Billye Shirey, Blake Shirey, Keith Rankin, Bobby Shirey, Tracey Shirey, Herb Kelly and Freddie Harmon.
The family would like to thank the staff of White Oak Manor for their loving care of Mr. Harmon and invite them to be honorary pallbearers for his service.
