Philmore H. Parker, U.S. Army retired, Sgt 1 st class, 90, of Prosperity, peacefully passed from home to Heaven on November 20, 2010.

Born on August 5, 1920 in Brunswick, GA, he was the son of the late Eddie and Irene Keels Parker. Sgt. Parker was a WWII Army veteran having served in Europe, Aleutian Islands, Korea, and Germany. During his career he acquired many service medals. After his Honorable Discharge, he cared for Military Veterans at the Dorn V.A. Hospital for another 15 years.

He is survived by his loving and caring wife, M. Louise Parker, a sister, Mildred Harris of Valdosta, GA; sons, Jack (Carol Ann) Parker of West Columbia, Philip (Dianne) Parker of Lexington, and Eddie Parker of Dillon, a daughter, Merrie (Duncan) Parker Grant of Columbia, grandchildren, Kimberly, Lacey, George, Marielle, Brett, and McKenzie. He was formerly married to the late Doris M. Parker.

He was a dedicated family man and caring husband and will be sorely missed by his family and friends.

The family wishes to express its deepest appreciation to Dr. Oscar Lovelace, and LaDonya Hallman, R.N. of Harmony Hospice for their kind and compassionate service to the family.

Memorial services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Monday, November 22, 2010, at Bethel Baptist Church by the Rev. Rob White. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Bethel Baptist Church, 2503 Bethel Church Road, Prosperity, SC 29127 or Harmony Care Hospice, 200 Ashland Park Lane # K, Columbia, SC 29210.
