Polly Mills

Polly Mills, 92, of Newberry, widow of Elon W. Mills, died Friday, June 27, 2014, at her residence.

Born on December 31, 1921 in Simpsonville, she was a daughter of the late Will A. and Mamie Hill Hamby. She was a member of Glenn Street Baptist Church where she was a member of the Reapers Sunday School Class.

Mrs. Mills is survived by a son, Ronny (Phoebe) Mills of Santee; daughters, Linda (Wayne) Cassady of Newberry and Dale (Mike) Smith of Spartanburg; a brother, Bobby (Joy) Hamby of Newberry; sisters, Eunice Long of Newberry, Willie Cooper of Marietta, GA and Vernice (George) Fuller of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren, Rhonda (Eddie) Miller, Tammy (Nathan) Wicker, Brandon Cassady, Heather (David) Jolley, Mistie (Carl) Waller and Kimberly Butler; great-grandchildren, Wendy Mills, Austin Wicker, Jacob Wicker, Tyler Waller, Peyton Jolley, Dean Jolley and Kinsley Butler. She was predeceased by brothers, Carl Hamby, Claude Hamby and Charles Hamby.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, June 30, 2014, at Glenn Street Baptist Church by the Rev. Michael Whitesides. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Glenn Street Baptist Church, 300 Glenn Street, Newberry, SC 29108.

Active pallbearers will be Wayne Cassady, Mike Smith, Carl Waller, Nathan Wicker, David Jolley, Jacob Wicker, Tyler Waller and Austin Wicker.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Reapers Sunday School Class.
