Rachel Wise

Rachel Caldwell Wise, 84, of Prosperity, widow of John Jacob Wise, died Friday, July 28, 2017, at her residence.

Born on August 14, 1932, in Saluda, she was a daughter of the late John Caldwell and Pearl Force Caldwell Riley. She had worked at Old School Manufacturing and was a member of Macedonia Lutheran Church where she was involved with the Goldies.

Mrs. Wise is survived by a daughter, Johnette (Brian) Shaffer of Prosperity; brothers, Carl Riley of Ninety Six and Tommy Riley of Saluda; grandchildren, Gray Davenport, Dustin Davenport and Christian Olsen; step-grandchildren, Kristen Gomez, Ashley Jackson and Austin Shaffer and a step-great-granddaughter, Sadie Gomez. She was predeceased by sons, Peter Christian Olsen, Jr. and Lester Clyde Wise and siblings, Cathryn Caldwell, Berley Miller, June Lake and Maxcy Caldwell.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, July 31, 2017, at Macedonia Lutheran Church by the Rev. Randall Derrick and Rev. Frank Lyerly. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00 – 5:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Macedonia Lutheran Church, 49 Macedonia Church Road, Prosperity, SC 29127.

Active pallbearers will be Gray Davenport, Dustin Davenport, Christian Olsen, Austin Shaffer, Tim Riley and Reedy Lake.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Macedonia Lutheran Church Goldies.

Special thanks are extended to her sister-in-law, Dovie, nieces, Judy, Ruth and Joyce and the staff of Palmetto Health Hospice for their tender loving care during Mrs. Wise illness.
