Ralph Bachman Wicker, 80, of Newberry, died July 25, 2015 at his residence.
Born on February 17, 1935, in Pomaria, he was a son of the late John Bachman and Katie Pearl Graham Wicker. He was a commercial insulator and later retired from the Noland Company as a sales representative. He was a member of St. Philip's Lutheran Church where he was a member of the Adult B Sunday School Class, and the Joy Fellowship. He was a former P.I.C.'s adviser, and a former church councilman. Mr. Wicker was Chairman of Elections for the Newberry Electrical Cooperative and was a charter member with over 40 years of service of the St. Philip's Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed Gardening, fishing, hunting,and camping.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years Annie Estelle Gilliam Wicker;sons, Brett Albert (Susan) Wicker and Rocky Alan Wicker both of Newberry; a daughter, Wendy (Bob) Snelgrove of Newberry; sisters, Bennetta Kiker of Conyers, GA, Yvonne Sterneberg of Chapin, Mary (Nickie) Kinard of Newberry, Willene Stone of Whitmire, and Earline Comalander of Chapin; a brother, Claude (Margaret Dare) Wicker of Pomaria; grandchildren, Kristen Wicker and Kalya (Corey) Crist; great-grandchildren, Hayden and Peyton Sanders and Sophia Crist. He was predeceased by brothers, Hugh Wicker, Ray Wicker, and Harold “Mutt” Wicker; and a sister, Fay Waites.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 PM Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at St. Philip's Lutheran Church by the Rev. Terry Amick. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Memorials may be made to St. Philip's Lutheran Church, 2461 St. Philip's Church Road, Newberry 29108 or to the St. Philip's Fire Department.
Active pall bearers will be Troy Comalander, Tracey Stone, Doug Wicker, Rodney Wicker, Macie Sterneberg, Jared Homesley, Billy Waites, and Randy Sterneberg.
