Ralph Long

G. Ralph Long, 63, of Prosperity died February 26, 2009 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Born in Newberry on July 11, 1945, he was a son of the late Ira B. and Sara Sligh Long. Mr. Long was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and was retired from Cannon and Associates. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Mr. Long was twice married, first to the late Barbara James Long and secondly to Christina Dominick Long who survives. In addition to his wife he is survived by a son, Chris Long and wife, Christie of Newberry; a daughter, Amy Long Patterson and husband, Stephen of Prosperity; a step-son, Tommy Longshore and wife Jill, of Pomaria; a step-daughter, Shana Staten and husband, Gary of Martinsville, IN; sisters, Deborah Wix of Silverstreet, and Gertrude Worthy of Augusta; brothers David Long of Laurens, Randy Long of Saluda, and Claude Long of Silverstreet; grandchildren, Robbie Long, Morgan Long, Brock Bryant, Haley Patterson, Tanner Patterson, and Taylor Longshore; and his dog, Lucky. He was predeceased by brothers, Albert, Marvin, and Thomas Long.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, March 1, 2009 at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Daniel Nash and Mr. Earl Long. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. The family is at his residence and will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 - 7:30 PM at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O.
