Ralph “Daddy Ralph” Eugene Sligh, 94, of Newberry, widower of Marie Wicker Sligh, died Friday, May 19, 2017, at his residence.
Born on March 16, 1923, in Newberry, he was a son of the late James William and Rosa Lee Bobb Sligh. He was a World War II Army veteran and retired from Kendall Company having worked at the Mollohon and Oakland Mills. Mr. Sligh was a member of Colony Lutheran Church.
He is survived by a son, Larry Gene (Teresa) Sligh of Lexington; a daughter, Sandra Amick of Newberry; a sister, Doris Richardson of Travelers Rest; five grandchildren, Windy (Glenn) Jones, Cindy Lee, Dorn Amick, Larry (Janice) Sligh, Jr. and Darvi (Lisa) Amick; ten great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a grandson-in-law, Wally Lee and by seven siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, May 22, 2017, at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 12:30 – 1:30 pm at the funeral home on Monday.
Active pallbearers will be Terry Willard, Wayne Willard, Greg Glymph, Allen Sligh, Brandon Sligh and Colby Lee.
Honorary pallbearers will be Keith and Ann Sims, Richard and Joann Sligh, Carroll and Debra Long, Olin and Barbara Glymph and Robert and Melissa Dennis.
