Lewie Randall Minick, 76, of Newberry died Sunday, April 17, 2016 at his residence.

Born on May 24, 1939 in Prosperity, he was a son of the late C.H. and Edna Morris Minick. He was a graduate of Prosperity High School and a US Army veteran. He retired after over 40 years with American Fiber and Finishing, 32 years with perfect attendance. He was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church and was a fan of NASCAR and especially Dale Earnhart, the Atlanta Braves and the South Carolina Gamecocks. Growing up he helped on the family farm and later in life he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Mr. Minick is survived by his wife of 54 years, Kathy Miller Minick; sons, Joe (Kandy) Minick of Silverstreet and Chesley Dean (Leslie) Minick of Newberry; and daughter Louann (Leo) Minick Frick of Little Mountain; sisters, Joyce M. Cockrell of Saluda, Carolyn M. Shealy of Prosperity and Cheryl M. (Luke) Lucas of Newberry; brothers, Gordon (Carolyn) Minick and Chesley (Robyn) Minick both of Newberry; step-sisters, Peggy (Alan) Bickley, Daisy (Bobby) Morris, Ponzell Morris and Thelma (Larry) Morris all of Prosperity; step-sister-in-law, Joann Minick of Irmo; grandchildren, Christopher Frick, Charles Frick, Paige Frick, Libby Frick, Kolby Minick, Kayley Minick and Madisenn Elease Minick and a great-granddaughter, Delaina Frick; a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his step-mother, Sadie Minick, step-brother, Wayne Minick and brothers-in-law, Gerald Cockrell, Larry Shealy and Floyd Morris.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church by the Rev. Jason Schafer and Rev. Bobby Morris. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 4056 St. Luke's Church Road, Prosperity, SC 29127 or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Active pallbearers will be Tim Morris, Wade Morris, Alan Bickley, Jerry Kneece, Robert Longshore, Tyrus Senn, Brian Shealy and Josh Kneece.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Phillip Baldwin and staff, Dr. Mark Davis and Staff, Nancy Gause, Daphne Frazier, Julie Underwood, Stephanie McDuffie, Joe and Linda Kunkle, Joe and Judy Kesler and the staff of Amedisys Hospice.
