Randy Shirey

Randy Lee Shirey, 65, of Prosperity, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at his home.

Born on April 7, 1959, in Columbia, he was a son of the late Robert Roscoe Shirey and Margaret Williams Gartman. Randy worked for 47 ½ years with Shaw Industries formerly Allied Chemical where he was a control operator. He was an Abate member, had been a member of the Allied Chemical bowling league, and also played baseball on the company team. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church where he had helped coach the boys basketball team.

His interest included golf, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, cruising Lake Murray and spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid Carolina Gamecock fan.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene Rauch Shirey; a son, Justin Kyle Shirey; sisters, Teresa O. (Glenn, Sr.) Purvis and Crystal Lynn (Austin) Floyd; step-sisters, Deena (Mark) Wintersteen and Sherry (Mike) Powers; a step-brother, Charlie (Liz) Smith; and number of nieces and nephews included, Glenn (Kelly) Purvis, Jr. and Gary (Cindi) Purvis; great-nephews, Peyten Purvis and Chase Wada and great-nieces, Khloe Purvis and Sadie Purvis.

He was predeceased by his son, Robert John Shirey; his mother and father-in-law, Mary Lou Hutto and George Alexander Rauch and a brother-in-law, Randall Rauch.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 2:00 pm at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home by Mr. Glenn Purvis, Jr. The family will receive friends following the service.
