Ray Hartley

Ray Edward Hartley, 85, of Newberry, died Saturday, September 10, 2011, at White Oak Manor.

Born on September 5, 1926, in Lenoir, NC, he was a son of the late Christopher and Rosa Sigmon Hartley. He was the owner of Jalapa Upholstery Service and a U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Hartley loved gardening, hiking, camping, canoeing, traveling and sail boating.

He is survived by his wife, Mabel Gragg Hartley and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Tuesday at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Brian Preston. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens . Visitation will be Monday evening from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.
