Reba Waites Lake, 82, of Newberry, died Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Born on May 13, 1935, in Newberry County, she was a daughter of the late Edgar B. and Annie Mae Livingston Waites. She was retired from Kayser-Roth Industries. Mrs. Lake was the oldest member of Enoree Baptist Church where she was a former WMU leader and Sunday School Teacher.

Mrs. Lake is survived by sisters, Barbara Smith (Harold), Kathie Leitzsey (Carroll) and brother, Ted Waites (Lallie) all of Pomaria. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Clara Sue Waites, Linda Waites and Deborah Waites, twenty nieces and nephews, twenty-six great-nieces and nephews and six great-great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Harold Lake, a sister, Margaret Long and brothers, Curtis Waites, Kenneth Waites, Bennett Waites and Willie Waites, brother-in-law, Lindsay Livingston and Albert Long and nephew, Grady Waites.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, May 19, 2017, at Enoree Baptist Church by the Rev. George Leagans. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 7:30 pm Thursday at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Enoree Baptist Church, 5101 Jollystreet Road, Newberry, SC 29108.

Active pallbearers will be Randall Waites, Wade Waites, Stacy Waites, Marty Livingston, Dean Long and Chad Leitzsey.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Ben Pinner, Dr. Oscar Lovelace, Robert Dennis, Ms. Polly Doolittle, Mrs. Barbara Lever, and the 3 rd floor nurses and aides at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
