Rebecca Sherard Boozer, 96, of Chappells, wife of the late Pressley Newton Boozer, died Monday, November 21, 2016, at White Oak Manor-Newberry.

She was born on May 13, 1920, in Ninety Six to the late Samuel H. and Lewise Lipscomb Sherard. She was a graduate of Lander University with a A.B. Degree in Elementary Education and Public School Music. She taught 34 years in Chappells, McCormick, and Saluda Public Schools. She retired in 1982 from Whitten Village in Clinton.

Mrs. Boozer was a member of Little River-Dominick Presbyterian Church of Kinards. She was the pianist, organist and choir director at her church for over 70 years. She was an Elder, a Sunday school teacher and was a Life Member of Presbyterian Women of U.S.A.

She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Pressley Boozer, Jr. and wife, Helen of Granbury, TX and Sam S. Boozer and wife, Jackie of Chappells; grandchildren, Suzanne Vaughn, Sam Boozer, Jr. and Pressley Boozer III and nine great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at Little River-Dominick Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Lawrence Peebles. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorials may be made to Little River-Dominick Presbyterian Church, 8654 SC Highway 56, Kinards, SC 29355.
