Rebecca G. “Becky” Shealy, 70, of Prosperity, died Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
Born on January 28, 1951, in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late William Earl and Lucia Mell Whisonant Gossett. She worked for Tom Gibson State Farm and was a member of Zion United Methodist Church. She loved fishing and playing softball in her earlier years. She had an artistic talent for painting and making jewelry and a great love for the ocean and collecting seashells. Regardless of how the season might have gone she was a devoted Gamecock fan. Mrs. Shealy loved watching the show Survivor. She was a very positive person who had a great wit and was a delight to be around. She loved her dogs, Flint and Shyloah.
She is survived by her husband, Steve R. Shealy; daughters, Lauri (Tom) Thomas Monts of Mansfield, TX and Lucia Suzanne (Miguel Acevedo) Thomas of Kissimmee, FL; brothers, Barry (Kay) Gossett and Tommy Gossett both of Columbia; grandchildren, Hunter Thomas Monts, Christian Salazar and Justin Acevedo and a nephew Barron Gossett. Mrs. Shealy was predeceased by a son, Steve R. “Stevie” Shealy, Jr.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, September 18, 2021, at Newberry Memorial Gardens by the Rev. R.T. Bowling. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside. Memorials may be made to Zion United Methodist Church, 80 Zion Circle, Prosperity, SC 29127.
