Richard Steele

Richard Ervin “Goofy” Steele, Jr., 61, of Whitmire, died Monday, October 10, 2016, at his residence.

Born on November 8, 1954, in Savannah, GA, he was the son of Theresa Moore Steele and the late Richard Ervin Steele, Sr. He was a retired U.S. Air Force veteran and was also retired from Williams Brothers Trucking. Mr. Steele had a love for photography and camping. He enjoyed his numerous pets over the years. Mr. Steele was proud to have served in the United States military and to be the fourth generation to be eligible to be interred at a national cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Ann Shaffer Steele, his mother, Theresa Steele and a sister, Cathy Pochron.

Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon on Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at Fort Jackson National Cemetery with military honors being rendered by the U.S. Air Force.
