Ricky Barker

Ricky Dale Barker, 68, of Newberry, died Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at Springfield Place.

Born on October 3, 1950 in Laurens, he was a son of the late Claude Barker and Louise Osborne Barker Jackson. He was a graduate of Ford High School where he was an outstanding football player and had his number retired. He was a former employee of the S.C. Highway Department and Palmetto Spinning. Ricky loved spending time with his grandchildren and Clemson football.

He is survived by daughters, Tosha Barker Phillips(Shawn) of Newberry and Sonya Barker of Gray Court; a sister, Jerry Strickland (Tony) of Clinton; a brother, Larry Barker(Susie) of Greenwood; grandchildren, Jordan Phillips, Nick Phillips, and Dustin Phillips; great-grandchildren, Jocilynn and Aiden. He was predeceased by a son, Chuck Berry; and sisters, Jeanette Moss and Martha Ann McCartha.

The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 4:00 until 6:00PM at the chapel at Springfield Place, 2000 Springfield Circle, Newberry. Memorials may be made to McSwain-Evans Funeral Home, 1724 Main Street, Newberry, SC 29108.
