Robert Harold Lake, 89, of Newberry, died Sunday, February 12, 2012, at J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home.
Born on December 28, 1922, in Newberry County, he was a son of the late James Robert and Lucia DeHihns Lake. He was retired from Kaywood Joanna Western. Mr. Lake was the oldest member of Enoree Baptist Church where he was a former Sunday School Director, Sunday School Teacher and Deacon.
He is survived by his wife, Reba Waites Lake; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bennette and Linda Waites, Ted and Lallie Waites, Willie and Deborah Waites, Barbara and Harold Smith, Kathie and Carroll Leitzsey and Clara Sue Waites; five nieces, sixteen nephews, thirteen great nieces and thirteen great nephews, two great-great nieces and one great-great nephew. Mr. Lake was predeceased by a half brother and sister-in-law, Vernon and Blanche Lake, brothers-in-law, Albert Long, Curtis Waites, Kenneth Waites and Lindsay Livingston; a sister-in-law, Margaret Long.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at Enoree Baptist Church by the Rev. George Leagan. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Enoree Baptist Church Building Fund, 5101 Jollystreet Road, Newberry, SC 29108.
Active pallbearers will be Chad Leitzsey, Marty Livingston, Dean Long, Randall Waites, Stacy Waites and Wade Waites.
Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of Enoree Baptist Church, Miller Jacobs, Dr. Oscar Lovelace, Dr. Ben Pinner, Kenneth Shealy and Kenneth Sligh.
