Robert “Bob” Lloyd Beebe, 82, of Prosperity, passed away Friday, August 15, 2014, at his home.
He was born on October 6, 1931 in Kalamazoo, MI and was a son of the late Lloyd and Helen Beebe. Robert served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean Conflict. He was a Detroit Police Officer for 25 years and retired to Prosperity in 1979. He was a police officer in Prosperity and also worked at Akerman's Salvage Yard after retirement. Mr. Bob was an active member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Palmetto Studebaker Club and the Newberry Car Buffs. He participated in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, Cancer Support Group and other local community groups.
Mr. Beebe is survived by his wife of 41 years, Helen May Denton Beebe; children, Robin (Greg) Cameron, Ruth (John) Brown, Suzanne (David) Major and Bill (Paula) Denton; brothers, Harold (Vi) Beebe, Don (Terry) Beebe; a sister, Carol Sue (Lionel) Garcia; twelve grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church by the Rev. Jason Schafer. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 4056 St. Luke's Church Road, Prosperity, SC 29127.
